Public Meetings

Codex Committee on Food Hygiene (CCFH)

The U.S. Codex Program is sponsoring a public meeting on October 9, 2018 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. to provide information and receive public comments on agenda items and draft United States (U.S.) positions to be discussed at the 50th Session of the Codex Committee on Food Hygiene (CCFH) of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (Codex), in Panama City, Panama on November 12-16, 2018. The public meeting will take place at USDA in the Jamie L. Whitten Building, 1400 Independence Avenue SW., Room 107-A, Washington, DC 20250.   • Jenny Scott, U.S. Delegate to the 50th Session of the CCFH invites U.S. interested parties to submit their comments electronically to the following email address: jenny.scott@fda.hhs.gov
  • Please register to attend by emailing barbara.mcniff@osec.usda.gov by October 3, 2018. Early registration is encouraged because it will expedite entry into the building, for which attendees should bring photo identification and plan for adequate time to pass through federal building security screening systems. Attendees who are not able to attend the meeting in person, but who wish to participate, may do so by phone/conference call; please use the call-in-number 1-888-844-9904. Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses (CCNFSDU)

The U.S. Codex Program is sponsoring a public meeting on November 6, 2018 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. to provide information and receive public comments on agenda items and draft United States (U.S.) positions to be discussed at the 40th Session of the Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (Codex), in Berlin, Germany on November 26-30, 2018. The public meeting will take place at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition in the Wiley Building, Room 1A002, 55 Campus Drive, College Park, MD 20740. Documents related to the 40th Session of the CCNFSDU are accessible here: www.codexalimentarius.org/meetings-reports/en.

The U.S. Codex Program will sponsor additional public meetings in December and January for the following upcoming Codex subsidiary body meetings:

  • Ad-hoc Codex Intergovernmental Task Force on Antimicrobial Resistance in December 2018.
  • Codex Committee on Spices and Culinary Herbs in January 2019.

Standard for Follow-up Formula: The Codex Secretariat has issued a Circular Letter (CL 2018/63/OCS-NFSDU) requesting comments at Step 3 on Review of the Standard for Follow-up Formula: scope, product definition, and labeling sections. The CL is currently available in English at the following link: www.fao.org/fao-who-codexalimentarius/resources/circular-letters/en. If you are interested in having your comments considered in the U.S. response, please send your comments to Doreen Chen-Moulec (doreen.chenmoulec@osec.usda.gov) by October 23, 2018. Comments by other Observers and countries should be submitted through their Codex Contact Points using the Online Commenting System (ocs.codexalimentarius.org) by October 26, 2018.

Codex Committee on Spices and Culinary Herbs (CCSCH)

Dried or Dehydrated Basil: The Codex Secretariat has issued a Circular Letter (CL 2018/58/OCS-CCSCH) requesting comments at Step 3 on the Proposed Draft requirements for dried or dehydrated basil. The CL is currently available in English at the following link: www.fao.org/fao-who-codexalimentarius/resources/circular-letters/en. If you are interested in having your comments considered in the U.S. response, please send your comments to Rita Kishore (rita.kishore@fsis.usda.gov) by October 25, 2018. Comments by other Observers and countries should be submitted through their Codex Contact Points using the Online Commenting System (ocs.codexalimentarius.org) by October 31, 2018.
