香港售賣的預先包裝食物的營養標籤可閱性
Legibility of Nutrition Labels (NL) in Prepackaged Food in Hong Kong

可閱而適當標示各項必要資料的食物標籤,有助消費者作出明智的選擇。中心聯同消費者委員會進行了一項研究,了解食物業界有否按照中心的《業界指引》製作營養標籤,並向業界提出具體建議,以提供可閱的營養標籤。
Legible food label with essential information of product appropriately marked would help consumers make informed choices. The CFS and the Consumer Council have conducted a joint study to have a snap shot on whether the trade provides legible NL in accordance with the "Trade Guidelines on Preparation of Legible Food Label" and provide advices to trade for improving the legibility of NL.

專項食品調查 - 醃製水果及蔬菜中的防腐劑
Targeted food surveillance – Preservatives in preserved fruits and vegetables

防腐劑(例如二氧化硫、苯甲酸及山梨酸)經常用於醃製水果及蔬菜。中心曾發現醃製水果及蔬菜有防腐劑超標情況,故繼續進行有關食品調查以評估情況。該專項調查的最新檢測結果已上載到中心網頁。
Preservatives (e.g. sulphur dioxide, benzoic acid and sorbic acid) are commonly used in preserving fruits and vegetables. The CFS notes that there had been levels of excessive preservatives detected in samples of preserved fruits and vegetables and therefore continues to launch a surveillance project to assess the situation. The recent targeted food surveillance project has been uploaded onto the CFS website.

A roving exhibition on Food Safety will be held on 24 February in Fa Yuen Street Market in Mongkok for participants to learn more about nutrition labelling, prevention of cross contamination and control of food temperature.

慎防誤食海芋中毒
Beware of Food Poisoning Related to the Giant Alocasia

芋頭不僅可以配製各種菜式,還可以做甜品,是很受歡迎的食材。然而,有些外形與芋頭相似的植物(例如海芋)含有毒素,誤食會引致中毒。進食意外混有含草酸鈣針晶體植物(例如海芋)的蔬菜亦有可能會食物中毒。
Taro is a popular ingredient used to prepare various dishes and desserts.  However, some plants (e.g. Giant Alocasia) look like taro but containing toxins and can cause food poisoning. Consumption of vegetables that have been accidentally mixed with calcium oxalate raphides-containing plants (e.g. Giant Alocasia) may also cause food poisoning.

The coming exhibitions will be held at Hoi Fu Shopping Centre in Mongkok, Tuen Mum Public Library, Tin Ping Shopping Centre, Tin Ping Estate in North District and Fa Yuen Street Market in Mongkok. Panels cover topics on Nutrition Labelling, Trans Fats, Pesticide Residues, Ciguatoxin, Organic Food, Cross Contamination and Control of Food Temperature.
