Keys to learning Food Microbiology for examinations

  1. Understand the materials, don't just memorize them
  2. Familiarize with the characteristics of the pathogens, spoilage microbes and useful microbes
  3. Understand the key points of each topics
  4. Test yourself on the past examinations, but note that although questions from different years may look alike, they are not identical
  5. Match characteristics of microbes with their special features, e.g., Clostridium perfringens<-->turkey
  6. Match characteristics of microbes with the characteristics of foods to see what can grow or survive on what food
  7. Use the Mind Maps to help internalize the materials
  8. More................?
